Walking out to find my sketching spot in the dunes – in the distance Scolt Head island – it feels immersive and expansive to see the tidal flow constantly changing the shape and patterns of the land. Absorbing this view with all my senses, the sea breeze on my face, it’s all so reminiscent of my childhood memories.

From my visual memories and sketchbook jottings, to blending layers of colour as I paint. I have been trusting my ethos of ‘letting go’ of perfection — embracing freedom, and a more experimental approach to mark-making. Each piece has a story to tell, a feeling to evoke. And through this creative freedom I hope this painting will bring you the enrichment and peace I seek to convey.

Painted in my Cambridge studio. This original artwork is created with Winsor & Newton professional oil paints on high quality stretched canvas, with softwood stretchers. Canvas size is 50 x 50 cm x 4.5 cm depth. The image is extended on the sides of the canvas creating a 3-D effect. The artwork is signed on both the front and the back with the title. It is READY TO HANG with no further need for framing, offering a contemporary finish to the piece.
