The mood of the sky above, the sea air swirling around me, the open stretch of beach is expansive with the ebb and flow of tidal patterns, it’s immersive. Evoking childhood memories in this contemplative piece…this is “A Spiritual Freedom”.

Responding to my visual memories, sketches and notes, I work intuitively to apply paint, blending layers and texture to express movement and capture the essence of ‘being there’ in the landscape. Creating this painting has been a ‘journey of exploration’ – embracing freedom, and a more experimental approach to mark-making. And through this creative expression I hope this painting will bring you the enrichment and peace I seek to convey.

Painted in my Cambridge studio. This original artwork is created with Winsor & Newton professional oil paints on high quality stretched canvas, with softwood stretchers. Canvas size is 30 x 30 cm x 4.5 cm depth. The image is extended on the sides of the canvas creating a 3-D effect. The canvas is signed on both the front and the back, and there are 2 D-rings attached to each side of the softwood stretchers strung with strong cord so that this artwork is READY TO HANG to sit flush against the wall, with no need for further framing, offering a contemporary finish to the piece.
