There is always a good fresh breeze along this stretch of the North Norfolk coastline. Huge skies filled with drama, the open stretch of beach and curve of the shoreline, the salty sea air swirling around me, yet there is a sense of peace here…”My Cherished Calm”.

Responding to my visual memories, sketches and notes, I work intuitively to apply paint with strokes of my palette knife, in mindful play between paint and canvas. I build layers and texture to express movement and capture the essence of ‘being there’ in that moment. Creating this painting has been a ‘journey of exploration’ – to bring more freedom of expression into my creative process.

It is these natural influences of cherished coastal memories that have been woven into this artwork, which in turn I hope brings you the calming nourishment I seek to convey.

Painted in my Cambridge studio. This original artwork is created with Winsor & Newton professional oil paints on high quality stretched canvas, with softwood stretchers. Canvas size is 30 x 30 cm x 4.5 cm depth. The image is extended on the sides of the canvas creating a 3-D effect. The canvas is signed on both the front and the back, and there are 2 D-rings attached to each side of the softwood stretchers strung with strong cord so that this artwork is READY TO HANG to sit flush against the wall, with no need for further framing, offering a contemporary finish to the piece.
