Sitting in the dunes, gazing out to the sea and beyond, I can feel the soft sand under foot and the dune grasses brushing and swaying in the sea breeze, evoking a calming sentiment to savour in this contemplative piece. The second in a series of two – “Embrace this Moment II”.

Responding to my visual memories and feelings of this moment on the North Norfolk coast, I work intuitively to apply paint with strokes of my palette knife, building layers and texture to express movement and capture the essence of ‘being there’ in the drama of the landscape. Creating this painting has been a ‘journey of exploration’ – to bring more freedom of expression, building layers of colour and depth, texture and mark making into my painting process.

Painted in my Cambridge studio. This original artwork is created with Winsor & Newton professional oil paints on high quality stretched canvas, with softwood stretchers. Canvas size is 20 x 20 cm x 4.5 cm depth. The image is extended on the sides of the canvas creating a 3-D effect. The canvas is signed on both the front and the back, and there are 2 D-rings attached to each side of the softwood stretchers strung with strong cord so that this artwork is READY TO HANG to sit flush against the wall, with no need for further framing, offering a contemporary finish to the piece.
